Bernhard Bütow
born on July 11, 1863 in Friedrichshof / East Prussia Trained as baker, became tobacco merchant and founder of HaBeCo Tobacco Factory in Allenstein / East Prussia Lived in Jewish Retirement Home after 1938 on Liebstädter Strasse in Allenstein, where he died of natural causes on December 9, 1941 at the age of 75.
Hedwig Bütow
nee Frankenstein
born on December 25, 1858 in Allenstein / East Prussia Worked in the family business, millinery store as saleswoman. She died on March 12, 1937 of natural causes at the age of 79.






Hugo Bütow
born on 19. April 1889 in Döbern, Preussisch Holland / East Prussia He was the owner and namesake of HaBeCo Tobacco Company aryanized 1937. To escape persecution in East Prussia the family left for Berlin and lived at Caspar Theys Straße 26, Berlin Wilmersdorf. From there they were deported on August 15, 1942 to Riga. At Biķernieki Forest they were shot to death upon their arrival on August 18, 1942. He was 53 years old.
Rosa Bütow
nee Alexander

born on December 24, 1899 in Bartenstein / East Prussia. She married Hugo and together they had 3 children. In Berlin she was working as a forced laborer. The family lived at Caspar Theys Strasse 26, in Berlin Wilmersdorf. Together with her two daughters and her husband she was deported on August 15, 1942 to Riga. Upon arrival three days later they were shot. She was 42 years old.
Judith Bütow

born on December 3, 1922 in Allenstein / East Prussia. She contracted Polio and had lifelong problems with her legs. After leaving Allenstein, she lived with her family at Caspar Theys Straße 26 in Berlin Wilmersdorf. Together with them, she was deported to Riga and killed at Biķernieki Forest on August 18, 1942, three days after having departed from Berlin. She was 19 years old.
Eva Bütow

born on December 7, 1928 in Allenstein / East Prussia. After moving to Berlin she attended the Leonore Goldschmidt School at Hohenzollerndamm 110. She lived at Caspar Theys Straße 26, Berlin Wilmersdorf. Together with her sister and her parents she was deported to Riga on August 15, 1942 and killed at Biķernieki Forest after arrival on August 18, 1942.


Kurt Bütow

born on August 2, 1924 in Allenstein / East Prussia. Since Jewish students were no longer permitted, he was forced to train as a blacksmith. In preparation for migration to Palestine, he was enrolled at the Landschulheim Herrlingen school under the leadership of Hugo Rosenthal. After completing his training, he returned to Berlin to be with his parents. And to await emigration. When the family was informed of their impending deportation he went into hiding. He was eventually uncovered in his hiding place in Motzstrasse in Berlin Schöneberg and deported to Auschwitz on January 29, 1943, ending up at Monowitz. At the insistence of IG Farben Management sick and exhausted prisoners were to be replaced. Kurt was among 10.000 of these prisoners who were killed by phenol injection to the heart at the hands of Medical doctor Bruno Kitt. He died on March 11, 1943. He was 18 years old.
Max Bütow
born on July 4, 1890 in Allenstein / East Prussia. He volunteered in World War I and served on the Western Front. He suffered from shell shock because of this experience. He too left East Prussia for Berlin where his last address was Friedrichstrasse 50 in Berlin – Mittedeportation. On the 27. or 29. October 1941 he was deported to Litzmannstadt, Lodz Ghetto, where he died on March 7, 1942 The official cause of death is listed as “Heart Failure”. More likely that he starved to death. He was 53 years old.



Erich Frankenstein
born on April 17, 1890 in Allenstein / East Prussia. He married Auguste Belson in the 1920s. Together with her he was deported to the SS Trainings Camp Trawniki and onward to Ghetto Piaski on 28. March 1942. Their fate is unknown.
Auguste Victoria Frankenstein
nee Bellson
born on July 10, 1890 in Berlin. She was married to Erich. They lived in Berlin at Dahlmannstrasse. They were deported to Trawnicki and onto Ghetto Piaski on March 28, 1942. Their fate is unknown.
Ingeborg Johanna Cohen
nee Frankenstein
born on October 31, 1919 in Berlin. She lived with her parents until she moved to Den Haag and later to Groningen. She was married to Hermann Cohen on August 22, 1942 and they lived in the Amalia van Solms Straat in Groningen. In October 1942 they were deported to Westerbork. From there they were moved to Camp Vught in February 20, 1943. She was forced to work sorting clothing until November 15, 1943 when she and her husband were returned to Westerbork and directly onward to Auschwitz. Her official date of death is January 31, 1944.
Hermann Cohen
Born on April 2, 1911 in Groningen, Netherlands. son of Salomon Cohen and Regina Polak and older brother to Willem Cohen. He died on January 1, 1944. He was 32 years old.
Margot Cohen
nee Frankenstein

born on 1. September 1921 in Berlin, where she lived with her parents Auguste and Erich Frankenstein. Like her sister Ingeborg, she also left Berlin for the Netherlands. There she married Willem Cohen, the brother of Hermann. They lived in the Amalia Van Solms Straat in Groningen. Together with Willem, she was deported to Auschwitz on the 30. September 1942. She was 21 years old.

Max Frankenstein
born on July, 25 1897 in Elbing / West Prussia. Together with his wife Käthe, he emigrated to the Netherlands from where they were deported to Auschwitz. He died there on January 24, 1944. He was 42 years old.

born on May 25, 1904 in Tostedt. She lived in Berlin and was married to Julius Frankenstein. They lived in Groningen. They were deported to Auschwitz in 1942, where she died on September 17, 1943. She was 39 years old.
Maria Theresia Mittau
nee Bellson
born on 20. September 1878 in Halle a. d. Saale / Saxony. Together with her husband Max, she was deported to Ghetto Minsk on November 14, 1941. Her husband had already passed away. She was 63 years old.
Helene Liebenau
nee Bellson
born on the June 22, 1884 in Halle a. d. Saale / Saxony. She lived in Berlin with her husband from where she was deported to Auschwitz on April 19, 1943. She was 58 years old.
